 THE SESSIONS

Tue 10 May, 11:00-12:30
Approach your project as you approach your music
Elena Stojceska
As young musicians since our youngest age we learn music as vector to express our feelings and thoughts through the prism of a musical piece. Our interpretation is of course built in very different manners depending on our knowledge and vision of the composers ideas. After years of musical studies we enter the professional world of music art, finding that on this scale where we are at peak level and bound to touch larger audiences, we are facing the fact that our art alone is not enough.
With the very recent développement of various ever-present screens, image took some importance and media became a whole part of our life. Even for musicians, which is a paradox,
image in many ways have sometimes taken precedence over the music itself.
How do we identify in the musical landscape today? How do we keep up with the development: creative, transversal, socio-cultural? Being inventive is a quality we all need to acquire in order to evolve, learn, communicate, share,
express or perform. What are your expectations as classical musician? Where do you want to intervene? How do you use your knowledge to achieve your goal.
Tue 10 May, 13:30-15:00
Getting to the Essence
Ricardo van Mildert
This session will focus on the essence of marketing, how to build a brand for your project, and how find and reach the right people. We will go through these elements using Moon Jelly’s BRAIN model: Branding through Representation (what people get to experience when interacting with your brand/project); based on your Aspirations (where are you trying to go, and who are you trying to reach) and a clear Identity (who are you, and why do you do what you do); in the format of your Narrative (the art of storytelling).
Wed 11 May, 9:00-10:30
International opportunities beyond touring
Barna Petrányi
The main aim of the session is to give an insight into international fundings and with examples introduce the ways of international collaborations.
Our main aim is to show, that there are tremendous possibilities for strengthening international connections and fostering collaboration beside international touring and performing.
The session has two parts. First we get to know typical international projects, programs from planning via partner search and identification, finding common interest and building up trust till finalizing the common concept. The other part focus on concrete funding opportunities, especially EU fundings directly from Brussels. We will have examples from Creative Europe and Erasmus+ but we also focus on regional opportunities, such as the Visegrad Fund. We will talk a bit about implementation, reporting and closing as well as possible continuation of already successful international programs.
During the session, we will have the possibility to discuss ideas coming from the participants and taking them as examples too build up concrete strategies.
Wed 11 May, 11:00-12:30
Between leadership and teamwork - how to make your project work
Wojciech Hazanowicz
How do I make my idea transform into a project and then into a sustainable program? How to encourage others to cooperate and commit to its success? How to build a competent, effective and modern team?
We will devote the workshop to discussing the key elements necessary for the success of cultural projects: leadership, trust, teamwork, competences, skills, management.
We will look at various models in practice and discuss the proposed projects in terms of human resources and we will try to properly define the competences necessary for their implementation. We will play with music and try to objectively evaluate our own resources.
In the end we will build better projects. Together.
Wed 11 May, 13:30-15:00
Preparing your Pitch + Digital Tools
Ricardo van Mildert
To prepare for your pitch, we will go through the basics of public speaking and presentation skills. We will talk about the Ethos, how to be credible, Pathos, how to create an emotional connection with your audience, and Logos, how to appear rational and consistent, by going through the three elements of a good speech: verbal, nonverbal and paraverbal. The session will cover everything form body language and gap fillers to basic rhetoric (for example, to present everything in threes). Most importantly, we will go over some useful tips and tricks that will be useful for your own presentations.
